Sushi for the Birthday Girl!
We went into Denver for sushi this evening to a fabulous restaurant. A little drama that led to us getting there though. Jude and Michelle (Kev's sis and bro-in-law) reserved at what was named the best sushi restaurant in Denver - somewhere they had never been before. Both had to work today, so we drove into Denver to meet them. They arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before we did and noticed that the restaurant was empty - not a single table was filled, so were a little concerned about how good the place really was. We showed up and decided, we're here, so let's just try it - it was after all named the best in the city...maybe no one goes out for sushi 2 days before Xmas??? After we were all seated (staff looking excited that they had customers), they tell us, oops, by the way, our chef called in sick tonight, so all we have is our sushi chef, so we cannot serve you anything hot/cooked. Do you think they could have mentioned this to Jude/Michelle 10 mins earlier when they walked in to double check that they were indeed open?
So off we marched, to look for another restaurant where we can actually order some cooked food (Kevin's parents do not eat much of the raw sushi). Jude found us a wonderful restaurant where the food was amazing!! We got to eat our sushi, and Kevin's parents got to eat some nice hot cooked bento box meals. In the end, it turned out to be a blessing, as I'm sure the other place could not have topped what we ate - FABULOUS!!
