Palm Beach and a Bush Walk
Hal and Laila came into the city to pick us up for a fun filled day. Grabbed a coffee and drove out to Palm Beach. Wasn't the nicest day - was kinda windy and cool at the beach, but that didn't stop us. Hal and Kevin even went for a dip......brrrrrr too cold for me.
Hal and I built a sand castle, trying to coax Laila to come help, who was a little uphappy today about being at the beach - scared the crabs were going to get her. So we finished our sand castle, and walked down the beach to find some food. Ended up leaving the beach, to find a nice little place where we had prawns and fish and chips.
Drove into Manly, where we went up to some sort of old military base where we walked around in the bush to see the sites from up high on the cliffs, looking over into the bay and Sydney harbour. The vegetation was very strange - just like the outback I presume, very sandy and dry with lots of prickly bushes and gnarled trees. Very cool to see.
Then back into the city, where we went for a drink, and then met up with Tash and went for sushi. Ordered a mixed sushi/sashimi plate and a few other interesting things, and then got adventurous and ordered dessert - sesame pudding (which was really yummy), green tea pudding (Kevin's fave) and some sort of other weird dessert that we all weren't quite sure to make of it. Always an adventure!! The night ended with Kevin carrying a very tired girl back to the car, and saying our goodbyes to Hal and Tash. Kevin is off to work tomorrow, I'll venture around the city some, and then us girls are off to Shoal Bay (north of Sydney) for a few days. Can't wait!
