Christmas 2013

We had a very nice Christmas this year with my family. Drove to Christina Lake on the 21st. Had a pretty uneventful drive. Roads were good for most of the way, and Connor did really well in the car for the long drive. Could have had something to do with the fact that he had an iPad strapped to the back of the front seat so he could watch videos. Kevin and I spent the morning of my birthday playing in the snow with Connor. Took him down to my old elementary school yard where they had a big sledding hill built up in the back field. Connor had a blast sledding down the hill, whoosing down the slide in his snowpants, and of course swinging a bit on the swing. Mom made a lovely dinner. My brother was working but Nicole, her daughter Mira, and baby Neysa came for dinner to Mom and Dad's. Our first chance to meet Neysa - she is a real sweetie! Went back to the school yard again the next day, with Grandma this time. We all took turns sledding down the hill with Connor. Bryan, Nicole, Mira and Neysa came back again for dinner so had another opportunity to snuggle with the baby. Connor quite liked her, until she cried, and he was all concerned that the "baby is sad". Christmas morning came very early. Connor had been waking up every morning around 5 am since we got to grandma and grandpa's house. So mommy and Connor snuck down to the tree while everyone else slept, and played with one new toy that sat unwrapped under the tree (a new shopping cart filled with grocery items). Slowly opened presents throughout the day, as Connor was not too interested in the whole affair. A little overwhelming I think. We probably only got through half of them so saved the rest for the next day when Bryan's kids could join us to open their presents at grandma and grandpa's house. Turkey dinner, with all the fixings was enjoyed by all (well, except Connor, who refused to eat any of it so ended up eating a peanut butter and jam sandwich). Boxing day, we had a few more presents to open. Took a bit of a drive in the morning down to the public beach, and played in the snow again with Connor. Logan and Kendra came back to their dads house that morning, so Bryan and Nicole came up to mom and dad's with them and Neysa. Kids opened presents. Logan and Connor played together for the afternoon, as Logan set up Connor's new train set, and turkey dinner round 2 was enjoyed once again (Connor again wanting nothing but PB&J). Argggg 2 yr olds!! Grandma and Grandpa babysat for the day on the 27th while Kevin and I took a trip down to Spokane Washington, to do a little shopping, and just enjoy a day away. Shopping sucked, but we had a good time anyways. Ate at a great burger joint that Kevin goes to sometimes in his travels (5 Guys Burgers) and stopped in Colville to go to the wonderful mexican restaurant that I went to in the spring with mom and dad. Was very yummy!! Then our vacation was done, as we drove back to the comforts of home. Again, the roads were good, and Connor did pretty well keeping himself entertained with the iPad, or sleeping. Thanks Mom and Dad for a wonderful Christmas! Was nice that we could all be together.
