Brae
As an early birthday present, and a late celebration for us getting our permanent residency, we took an overnight trip with Hal and Tasha to have dinner at Brae, a top rated restaurant in Australia. We brought in a babysitter to stay overnight at our place with Laila and Connor, while we made the 2 hour drive to a house in the countryside that we rented for the night that was easy walking distance to the restaurant. The flavours of the meal were intense, with some very interesting and creative mixes of ingredients. Some standouts were a fresh pea tart and the iced oyster, but I think the thing they did best was the drink pairings. Tasha and I had the non-alcoholic drink pairing option, while the boys stuck to the booze. Our mix of juices and teas, hot and cold, were amazing and so well suited for each dish, while the boys had lovely wines from around the globe with each plate. A fun evening away, and a great time experiencing what Brae had to offer.
