The Honeymoon - lost luggage and food poisoning...what a start!
Well, its been a bit of a rocky start to our 5 week honeymoon in Europe. We had a long day flying Victoria-Atlanta-London, and to top it off, arrived in London with no luggage - LOST it was. And of course, since we could only carry on minimal stuff, and no liquids, we had no clothes and no toilettries to get us through what would be the next day and a half without any clean clothes or supplies. Hit the pharmacie for the essential bathroom supplies though. Had a great 1/2 day touring around London the afternoon upon arriving. Broke in the walking shoes - saw Trafalgar square, Piccadily Circus and Big Ben in the distance.
So day 2, still no clean clothes and Cheryl wakes up with a nasty case of sickness - food poisoning or something, cause we didn't leave the hotel room until today when we had to catch the Eurostar to Paris. Well Kevin left a few times to go to the Pharmacie to get me medicine. So saw nothing else of London - luckily we have a day on the way back to see some sites.
So I dragged my ill stomach to the train station, making frequent bathroom stops (hey, that gets expensive when you have to pay to get into the toilet) and hopped the Eurostar to Paris. Arrived in Paris at 3:30 local time, and had directions on the Metro to the apartment to follow, so wondered down that way until we discovered that there was no bloody way we were going to get us and our luggage on the metro, and plan B took us to a taxi - oh my god, that was scary. And Kevin thinks the drivers in NY are scary. I was frightened!!
Made it to the apartment - its so cute, had a nap and toured around the Marais area where we are staying. Oooh, learned one thing - don't go walking without a map - got lost, couldn't find out way back. I saw a guy on the street with a map and asked in broken french and pointed fingers if I could look at it, and he finally gave up trying to understand me and gave it to me. Found our way home and here we are. Eating fruit, crackers and cheese for dinner, cause that's about all my stomach can handle for today - hey trust me, its a big improvement over not eating at all for the past 2.5 days.
Time to set a plan for tomorrow....bye for now!
