Ryan Air to London
We were a little scared what Ryan Air was going to cost us today. Tickets from Milan to London were 1 cent each, plus taxes, which came to about $50US in total when we booked, however, what they nail you on is baggage weights - 8 euros per kilogram on anything over 20 kilos. And all that shopping...our bags are HEAVY!!
Luckily the ticket lady was nice and only charged us 10 kilos over (our large suitcase was way over), so only cost us an extra 80 euros which wasn't too bad. Looks like we are going to need to buy another suitcase to get all our loot home - don't want to be overweight on the flight home.
Got into London around noon. Headed to our hotel, the Goring, which is a 5-star hotel near Buckingham Palace - Kevin decided to go all out for our last honeymoon night!! What a nice place. The room was great, but the spectacular thing about this place was the service. Reception escorted us up to the room to personally show us the room and all its amenities, and when we asked the doorman where we could go to buy another piece of luggage, he personnally walked us over to the store a few blocks away.
We took a quick walk over to see Buckingham Palace and then headed back to the hotel for afternoon tea - just in time, as it started to rain like crazy. High tea was amazing - so many nummy snacks, and the scones and cream were to die for!! A nice treat!
Didn't get a chance to see the rest of London, as the weather stayed rainy for a few hours and by then it was too late to head out to catch any of the tours. Enjoyed our last day though nonetheless - the high tea was a real highlight, as was the entire stay at the hotel!
Had a light dinner and some drinks in the lounge, and headed to bed... a great day, a great holiday...a fabulous honeymoon! We really enjoyed ourselves, but are both excited to get home (we miss the kitten).
