Destination Reached - Bali
We are here in Bali! What a beautiful place. Our hotel is amazing. Very quaint and traditional but quite luxurious too. The staff is very friendly and welcoming (thanks to our friends that have stayed here and put in a good word for us). We find it a little weird getting used to the level of service - where they come running to help you and don't let you lift or touch anything yourself. We hear from our friends that come here though that you quickly become accustomed to it, and upon returning to Canada, are in shellshock when you have to again carry your own bags! hee hee
We are booked in a garden bungalow for the first two nights and then we move to a beach bungalow for the remainder of our stay. Our garden bungalow is located at the end of a pretty little garden path, with our own private hut outside the suite with daybeds and a table. This is where we enjoyed our tropical welcome drink upon arriving. The suite itself is pretty nice too. A canopy bed with shear netting all around, cool tile floor throughout (cool in the sense of ahhh, nice and cool on the feet which is welcoming in this weather!!), a huge sunken tub, and the best feature of all - the private outdoor shower!
We just returned from a walk around the grounds and a short stroll along the beach. It's a bit overcast today, but still hot hot hot....and my god its muggy - feels like the world is a sauna.
Off to make dinner plans. We have our driver booked for tomorrow for some sightseeing. I think he is taking us to a temple and a volcano.
