Hamilton Island
Flew to Hamilton Island on Sunday morning for a week of vacation with Hal and Laila. Unfortunately Tash did not come with us, as her Dad is not well, so she decided to stay home with him. We miss you Tash!
Have spent the last few days just relaxing at the apartment. Kevin and Hal went on a fishing excursion on Monday, but sadly brought home no fish for us to eat. Hal was on a mission to catch some coral trout for dinner; he caught one but it was undersize, so had to throw it back. And Kevin - well he caught a poisonous fish, so no bringing that one home for eats either :(
Laila and I stayed home for the morning, and went for a walk and a swim in the pool.
Hamilton Island is quite quaint. No cars on the island (just a few service vehicles and small tour buses). Everyone just drives around in golf buggies. We are having a fun time cruising around in our buggie (which I think we could walk faster than they go, but it's been quite fun).
We booked a 1/2 day tour for tomorrow to White Haven Beach and some snorkeling, and then the day after, we've rented a little dingy boat and some gear for the next day to try our hand at fishing again. Got the inside scoop from the guy at the rental place of the good places to go, so hopefully we will have fish dinner one night.
No internet at the apartment - am tethering off of Hal's iPhone....so probably no more blogging until we get back to Sydney. Two more days here with the aussies and then Kevin and I are heading out on Friday for a tall ship sailing tour for 3 days. Looking forward to that!!
