Our Visit with the Aussies
Had a great time with the Aussies. They stayed with us the weekend that they arrived, and then headed up to Mt Washington with our friend Brian for the week to get in some good Canadian skiing. Luckily, they had great conditions - Mt Washington had the best snowpack around! Kevin, Mary (Brian's girlfriend) and I went up Friday after work to join them, so Kevin could get some skiing in too. Mary and I planned to just go along for the ride and the visit up on the hill, but when we got there, we were enticed by the great conditions to try our hand at skiing too. Neither one of us had been skiing since high school. I went up for a few hours Sunday morning, and Mary in the afternoon. We both had a great time, really enjoyed it, and look forward to going back.
We came down off the mountain back to our place on Monday, and the Aussies headed to Vancouver for a few days while we worked the week. They came back over on Friday. Went for a lovely Japanese meal at Japanese Village (where they cook right in front of you) Friday night. Chilled out on Saturday, and had one last feast at our place on Sunday before they had to head home. Sadly, Monday rolled around and it was time for them to go home. Poor little Laila I think was ready to get back to her own house, her own stuff, and her own routine. She sure did good though, being so far away from home.
We really enjoyed our time with them, as quickly as it passed. Are hoping for another business trip that will take us back to visit them sometime this year. Kevin says they are working on signing another client in Australia, so the opportunity may arise to go back to visit. Otherwise, we'll just have to hope for great ski conditions again next year to bring them back to Canada. Perhaps by then, Mary and I will be seasoned skiers, and will join them on the hill for the entire week!
