Road to Hana
A drive to Hana, a fall in the mud....what a great day!
We took the windy scenic road to Hana today, drove past lush valleys, the black sand beach, cliffs along the ocean, and stopped to hike up to a couple of nice waterfalls. Let me tell ya, hiking up a little path in the rain forest in flip flops in an area that often sees flash floods is not a smart idea. It rained a bit on the way there, and by the time we got to the path to the waterfalls, it was a bit muddy....and slippery....and down I went! Covered in thick clay mud. Guess I should have listened to the little hawaiian boy along the path that looked at me, and my flip flops and said "you're gonna get muddy". (smart ass little boy). :) Ah well, we had a great time!
Beautiful scenary, a nice drive, we really enjoyed the afternoon.
Had dinner at a place called Mama's Fish House. Apparently its a popular spot for all the hollywood stars. They have quite the wall of fame there of all the stars that have frequented the place. Was really good food, but a little overpriced for what you got ($20 for a Mai Tai was a little outrageous). The view was amazing though - we arrived and were seated looking out over the water just as the sun set.
