Mommy's Return to Work

Well, after having been off for a year and a half, spending that precious time at home with Connor, it is sadly time to return to work.  First day back to work was Jan 7th.
I found Connor what appears so far to be a wonderful daycare right near my work.  We did a bit of a trial run for a week before Christmas, to gradually introduce him to being left there without mommy.  He did very well with it, outside of hanging onto my pantleg a bit the second and third day of being dropped off.  However, after being distracted and walked away to pet or feed the puppy (Joey), I was able to sneak out and he reportedly did fine the whole time.  In fact, the last trial day of easing him in before returning to work, after coat and boots were off, he walked away with Diane, the daycare lady, to go feed the dog, and turned around and said "ba-bye".  Well then, guess you are ok with this whole daycare thing! 
He will have lots of fun.  She does so many things with them, outtings all the time, which is really great.  So far he's been to check out the christmas trees and gingerbread houses at the Empress Hotel, goes once a week to a seniors' home to visit and "play" with the residents, has had music sessions, both in her home and at the library, and yesterday he went to the Imax - yup, sat through the whole movie and apparently quite enjoyed it (well of course, cause we don't yet let him watch tv at home).  Next week, he starts swimming lessons at the Y once a week.  Not sure how she manages taking 8 young kids to swimming, but apparently does, and has success at it.  He will love it, considering how much he likes the water!!  Am excited for him to have all these opportunities, sad I have to miss out on them though :-(  boo hoo
